Abilities
Defeating a brawler restores a fifth of his own health, which is what lets him take a second fight straight after the first.
His long dash charges in roughly half the usual time, so the extended lunge is available far more often.
Swings the shovel in a circle around him for instant damage, and can be aimed to reach a little further in one direction.
Turns into a swarm of bats and flies to a chosen spot, untargetable for the duration of the flight.
The Super flies faster and returns to him, damaging and healing a second time on the way back.
Recommended builds
reviewed 19 Jul 2026The default. He moves only by dashing, so the whole build is about dash quality.
Showdown and other modes where one kill should turn into three.
Brawl Ball, where three dashes cover most pitches end to end.

A range is the trophy count Mortis was actually on when each match was played, so switching it changes which matches are counted — never how strong the evidence has to be.

Playing Mortis
reviewed 19 Jul 2026An assassin who cannot walk-attack at all: every attack is a dash, so movement and damage are the same resource.
Early game
He is at his weakest in the first thirty seconds — poke isolated targets to charge the Super and do not contest anything until it is up.
Positioning
Stay at the edge of the fight where you always have a dash pointing away from it; being out of dashes next to their team is how Mortis dies.
Using your Super
The bat swarm charges off dashes that connect, so spend dashes on real hits rather than on repositioning if you want the Super for the fight.
Common mistakes
- Dashing into a shotgunner, who beats him at the exact range his dash puts him in
- Using all three dashes to engage and having none left to leave
- Contesting the opening fight instead of farming a Super first
- Against low-health backline brawlers he can reach in two dashes
- Brawl Ball, where dashing with the ball crosses the pitch faster than anyone can chase
- Open maps, where he has room to dash away after a trade rather than into a wall
By mode
Three dashes cover most pitches, so he is a carrier rather than a defender.
His mobility makes him the best third-party brawler on large maps.
