How to counter Buster

Playing Buster

reviewed 19 Jul 2026

A tank whose cone hurts most at point-blank range and whose Super is a beam that swallows projectiles and shields whoever is behind it.

Early game

Absorb chip at the choke to build the beam; a Buster with no Super is a 5.33-tile cone that has to walk at people to do anything.

Positioning

In front of whoever he is protecting and facing the enemy, because the beam only covers the direction he is pointing and he is pinned while it is up.

Using your Super

Point the beam at the biggest source of incoming fire and walk it forward, treating it as territory taken rather than damage dealt.

Common mistakes

  • Raising the beam against a tank whose damage is melee and passes it entirely
  • Standing still with the beam up while an assassin walks around the side of it
  • Using the Super defensively at spawn instead of pushing the lane with it
  • Against marksmen and throwers, whose entire game is projectiles the beam eats
  • Brawl Ball, where he walks in front of the carrier all the way to the net
  • Chokes, where the beam blocks the only line the enemy has

By mode

Brawl Ball

The beam turns a solo run into a protected walk to the goal.

Heist

It blocks the defensive fire while the rest of his team hits the safe.
