Abilities

Star Power
Overgrowth

Every few seconds the next seed bomb explodes in a wider radius, signalled by a charge bar.

Star Power
Photosynthesis

It takes reduced damage while inside a bush, and keeps the shield for a few seconds after stepping out.

Gadget
Garden Mulcher
9s cooldown

Consumes a bush next to Sprout to restore a large share of its health, so cover doubles as a healing item.

Gadget
Transplant
15s cooldown

Destroys its current hedge and returns the Super fully charged, letting it move a wall rather than wait for one.

Hypercharge
Thorns
+40% stats while active

The hedge damages enemies who touch it, so the wall contests the ground as well as blocking it.

Hedge controlRecommended build

Modes with one fixed lane into the objective that a wall can simply close.

Star PowerOvergrowthhis bomb grows as it travels, and long lobs over cover are the only shots he should be taking
GadgetTransplantmoves the hedge after the enemy has already committed to walking around it
GearSuper Chargethe hedge is why he is picked, and he wants one for every push
GearDamagehis bomb is a single 1,100 hit, not a spread
HyperchargeThornsmakes the wall itself a threat rather than a delay
Bush camperRecommended build

Bushy maps where a five-tile thrower can hide rather than out-range anyone.

Star PowerPhotosynthesisthe shield only exists in a bush, which is where a five-tile attack range forces him anyway
GadgetGarden Mulchereats the wall blocking his own lob, and his bomb bounces rather than arcs cleanly
GearHealthhis effective range leaves him inside marksman fire
GearVisionhe has to know the bush is occupied before he steps in
Mine blockerRecommended build

Gem Grab, where a hedge across the mine turns a gem lead into a stall the enemy cannot break.

Star PowerOvergrowthhe is lobbing from behind his own wall, which is the maximum distance every time
GadgetTransplantreseals the mine the moment they find a way round the first hedge
GearSuper Chargethe stall only works if the hedge is never down
GearShieldhe is the target once the wall goes up
HyperchargeThornspunishes the brawler who breaks the hedge down

How to counter Sprout

Playing Sprout

reviewed 19 Jul 2026

A thrower whose bomb bounces off walls and whose Super is a temporary wall he can drop anywhere within range.

Early game

Learn which walls his bomb rebounds off on this map, then chip from behind them; his five-tile throw is short enough that geometry matters more than aim.

Positioning

Deep behind cover, since five tiles of throw range means anything with a normal attack out-ranges him the moment he has line of sight.

Using your Super

The hedge is a road closure, not damage: put it across the route the enemy must take, and remember it also cuts off his own team if placed carelessly.

Common mistakes

  • Walling his own teammates out of the fight they were about to win
  • Throwing directly at a target instead of at the wall that would rebound into them
  • Sitting on a charged Super waiting for a kill instead of closing a lane with it
  • Modes with a single lane into the objective that a wall can simply close
  • Walled maps where the bounce reaches targets that think they are covered
  • Gem Grab, where a hedge across the mine converts a lead into a stall

By mode

Gem Grab

A hedge over the mine stops the enemy collecting for its whole duration.

Brawl Ball

A wall in front of the goal turns a certain equaliser into a reset.
