Roll and shredRecommended build

The default: roll in, unload both barrels, roll out.

Star PowerSteel Hoopsthe shield during the roll is what makes the engage survivable
GadgetRecoiling Rotatorpushes a target into a wall so they cannot escape the shotgun
GearShieldhe rolls into the middle of the enemy team by design
GearSpeedhe has to walk out after the roll is spent
HyperchargeBarrel o' Bulletsa roll that kills rather than one that just arrives
Sustained DarrylRecommended build

When you need continuous pressure rather than one burst engage.

Star PowerRolling Reloada full magazine on arrival every single roll
GadgetTar Barrelthe slow keeps targets inside his short range
GearSticky Oilstacks directly with the tar he is already using
GearReload Speedhis damage is entirely a function of shells fired
Ball rollerRecommended build

Brawl Ball, where his roll carries the ball through the entire defence.

Star PowerSteel Hoopsthe shield gets the ball through the goal mouth alive
GadgetRecoiling Rotatorknocks the goalkeeper out of the net
GearSpeeda rolling carrier still has to finish on foot
GearShieldhe cannot shoot while holding the ball
HyperchargeBarrel o' Bulletsclears the defence and scores in the same move

How to play it

Stay behind a wall you can bounce off, since the roll gaining an angle off terrain is what makes him unpredictable.

Roll through the frontline into their backline, then unload both barrels — rolling at the tank in front of you achieves nothing.

Common mistakes

  • Rolling straight at the closest enemy instead of using a wall bounce to reach the one behind
  • Rolling in with no ammo, which turns a huge engage into a free kill for them
  • Using the roll as an escape when it is his only way to start a fight

Reviewed recommendations, not win rates: Brawl Stars never reports which loadout a player had equipped in a match, so nobody can measure one.
